Vodafone is leading 5G trials in Milan and its metropolitan area, involving 28 partners and 10 endorsers in the conduct of 41 projects in various sectors. Vodafone plans to invest €90 million in order to bring 5G to 80% of Milan by 2018, completing coverage of the city by 2019. In July 2018, it achieved the first 5G data connection in Italy using the 3GPP standard.
