Business Development Internship, Energy Products | Tesla

Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Duration: 5 - 6 months

Start date: January / February 2021

Tesla develops high-performance electric vehicles and electric powertrain technology. Tesla's Mission is to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy. Electric cars are only as clean as the grids that charges them. Using the same battery technology, Tesla’s Energy Products address the increasing need for flexibility in the electricity system, with intelligent stationary storage battery systems and renewable generation. The suite of battery systems developed by Tesla perform a variety of high value functions for utilities, businesses, and residential customers, and the fast-growing team is adding top team members for engineering, business and sales.

The internship assignment

As a Business Development intern, you will work directly with the team responsible for evaluating, defining and building markets for our Energy Products. Strong passion for renewable energy, energy storage and performing both high-level and detailed market and competitive analysis is a must. Besides a rock-solid work ethic and a strong team oriented personality, members of our team display creativity, passion, and a desire to break new ground in a constantly shifting technology and market landscape.

Learning goals & Tasks

Perform both high level and detailed market analysis for countries and/or specific market segments in the EMEA region to scope potential for energy storage and broader suite of Tesla Energy Products.
Build economic models to assess market potential and develop market size estimates for energy storage, Solar PV and the broader suite of Tesla Energy Products.
Perform competitive analysis for residential, commercial and industrial storage products and Solar PV.
Contribute to or perform ad-hoc research or analyses related to Energy products.



A deep passion for changing the way we use energy on the electric grid.
An intense desire to be on leading edge of market and technology.
Knowledge of electricity markets and battery systems.
Currently studying engineering or any other relevant technical discipline.
Good knowledge of MS suite, specifically building economic models in MS Excel.
Strong team-player.
Self-motivated & passionate.
Excellent communication and relationship management skills, both oral and written.
Fluency in English and at least one other European language (German or Dutch is a plus).
